Shen MID MANIFESTO

General Strategy

Shen mid excels into most melee matchups due to his strong early-game damage and short trades.

Against ranged champs you should generally trade before they get their poke and then into botlane once your ADC has completed their quest. You don't need to complete your quest to swap only ADC.

Shen works best when coordinating with his jungler.

• Shen often struggles to get early lane priority.
• Ping your jungler or support to help push waves when needed.
• E-flash to set up ganks.
• Mismatch your tempo with your jungle so you can ult from base using it to get back to lane and contest a neutral objective/invade.

• Prioritize health components.
• keep Stealth Ward for most of the game.

Boots of Swiftness Only into slows (adaptive force is not very good on Shen)

Mercury's Treads Only into a lot of cc (not gold efficient if you don't need the tenacity)

Ionian Boots of Lucidity Good with Teleport (good generic option against magic damage when you don't need Plated Steel Caps)

Plated Steelcaps Good into heavy AD or if you are building a magic resist item first.

Double Scaling Health if the lane is completely non-interactive.

if you need early game combat power.

Summoner Spells

• Early game you can Ult then TP back to lane

Abilities

Passive Ki Barrier

Use to farm

Q Twilight Assault

Position your blade far up in the lane to get a drag through.

Walk with your opponent to get multiple drag throughs.

W Spirit's Refuge

Use W to freeze waves.

Prioritize W for you allies late game.

Stagger this with your E to save your ally from the most amount of damage.

E Shadow Dash

Start E into mages.
E + Flash to redirect the taunt or to guarantee your e hit.

E people under your tower.

E melee range to pull enemies in a direction.

R Stand United

Generally reacting to plays your opponents are making or protecting your team's play from going bad is more valuable than creating plays with ult.

Remember that your ult teleports you to the location of your teammate, this is important to keep in mind because a lot of times you don't want to go there but you feel like you must use your ult to save your teammate. if you Ult somewhere you don't want to be the enemy mid gets a free turn. This is why it is better to ult after the enemy commits to a play and you ult in response this converges the both of your plays into 1 and lets you win the whole sequence if you win the play.

You always end up on the side of your ally nearest to the closet enemy champion with your blade beneath you.

Team Pairings

Having AP damage in jungle or top is ideal to balance team damage, or alternatively a Kaisa in bot lane.

Top Lane

• Light - Medium Fighters who can split push (Jax, Gwen, Riven)

Jungle

• High damage early game carries (Nidalee)
• Snowballing carries (Kindred, Evelynn,Graves,Jayce)

Bot Lane

• Hyper Carries with low self peel (Jinx, Sivir)
• Assassins with stealth/dive (Kai'Sa, Twitch, Samira)

Support

• Multi-threat dive supports. (Rakan, Alistar, Neeko)
