My Experience with Ashe

I have swapped to role from top to bot in September and Ashe was one of my to go pick. I know that a Silver doing a guide is kinda greedy but I wanted to share my experience to new Ashe players that came across this guide. I don't expect to have the expertise of a high elo player/diamond+ OTP so feel free to comment: it can help both me and the other guys who have fallen in love with this champion or are trying it for the first time.

RUNES

Lethal Tempo is the best rune on Ashe if u think u can kite enough on the enemy composition (they have tanks or tanky champions and u have the possibility of staying a lot in the fight due to peeler in your team). Cut down can be exchanged with based on the enemy composition. I personally like PTA along side with in games where I dont have much space to kite continuously and with safety.

In any case is the most important rune for u and should never be swapped for Domination or other trees. I don't recommend because most of games u will be rushing . If you cant back on 1300g for BF sword you can still go for even with PTA. Still good.

SUMMONERS

Standard, never wrong

Greedy aaaah runes

Against 2+ strong CC (like Leona) not worth against 1 only like Dark Binding or Light Binding. I personally like this even against Amumu even if theres too much to cleanse T.T

BUILD

The main build consist in or first item with one between (standard) and (3+ melee in enemy comp). It should be followed by to deal some damage (or u just do "PEW PEW 0 damage insert class are broken") u can skip infinity edge only against composition that have tons of armor or are tanky with some healings too . Some good items on Ashe to close the build are for sustain, if the match its close to an end and u need the revive shit to win an important fight like Baron or Elder. You can consider against dive comp, against a lot of CC if you don't have Cleanse. Usually I don't like on Ashe but there are some games where u can buy it, for example against heavy ranged comps. The is pretty similar to the standard one but you can jump directly to as second item. I'm not a fan of even if it can make sense against some poke lane. The are kinda core in your build as Ashe but you can go if you are against Zed or other assassins (only if gigafed and with feats of strenght). The last piece of advice in this chapter is to go with against heavy AP comp or fed mage.

Berserker's Greaves → Kraken Slayer → Phantom Dancer → Infinity Edge → Lord Dominik's Regards → Bloodthirster

Yun Tal Wildarrows → Berserker's Greaves → Infinity Edge → Phantom Dancer → Lord Dominik's Regards → Bloodthirster

You shouldn't try build with because they are very greedy and not worth it (don't trust the korean propaganda) but I'll show an example for u anyway in case u forget to change runes after playing Varus (it happened to me T.T), the gameplay can change a lot and your goal is just to spam Volley and Enchanted Crystal Arrow.

Hubris → Ionian Boots of Lucidity → Manamune → Axiom Arc → Serylda's Grudge → Edge of Night

Situational okay items can be Serpent's Fang, Youmuu's Ghostblade and The Collector against very squishy comps if u don't get a lead with Hubris. This build makes u a lot weaker late game and can only works against no tank/tanky champions comp. If u get filled Support u can still play Ashe with this build, changing the Hubris for Umbral Glaive or u can go AP with the same runes of Lethality Ashe

Zaz'Zak's Realmspike → Ionian Boots of Lucidity → Imperial Mandate → Malignance → Stormsurge → Cryptbloom

You can go for Void Staff or Rabadon's Deathcap instead of Cryptbloom, if u want more burst you can skip Imperial Mandate to try a more dps build like Blackfire Torch first followed by Liandry's Torment, Shadowflame, Stormsurge and closing it with Rabadon's Deathcap or another pen item. Anyway this can cost a lot and probably u will not be able to finish it before the end of the game. I DO NOT RECOMMEND to pick Ashe even if filled, only if u want to truly OTP her in order to improve with the lane and with her. Writing Lethality and AP build only for completeness of the guide [patch 15.23] do not try it at home ^-^

SET UP RECAP

RECAP

LT base, PTA with low peeling or kite possibility. Remember to change between Coupe de Grace and Cut Down depending on the tankiness of the enemy team

Lethality (don't do it pls) and AP runes (only Support)

Second lethality set (pls don't do it) I dont' like this as Support

no alternatives

Only Lethality (don't build it pls)

Standard KITING QUEEN

Steelcaps vs Assassins (only if they are fed)

Mercury vs AP Assassins or turbo mages (only if they are fed)

go for boots rush, heartbound if boots closed and u have a fat recall. If not recurve is good for the damage

You can skip Infinity Edge and jump on LDR against very tanky comp, remember to consider Runaan or RFC instaed of Panthom Dancer if against a melee/ranged comp. BOTRK start has the same build path

Good in situation where u cant kite a lot, IE/PD in the order u find better fitting in the game

Hubris/Collector as a first item, buy tear before closing in laning phase. Manamune core item always go for it, Axiom Arc good for Ulti spam (don't go lethality)

Wits End is good against AP, BT and Immortal Shieldbow are good survivability items, Mercurial Scimitar is good vs strong CC while GA is an evergreen if u have to survive in an important incoming fight like elder dragon or baron. LDR is almost a core item, very important to deal actual damage while Mortal Reminder is a good alternative and a very good item against comp with a lot of healing (Mundo, Enchanter, Sett, Darius...)

Usually I go with Barrier, I don't like very much the ghost option but its kinda played so I'll put it here for completeness. Cleanse can be very good against comp with some CC, especially in lane like Leona.

Standard, if u are not familiar with the champion and are not used to track jungler with E. U can follow the same path but with W-E-Q lvl 3 or Q-W-E if needed

WHY ASHE?

Our queen Ashe is a goated champion to learn the lane, low mobility and trains you on how to kite and position, if you play like a bruiser you can be punished A LOT. She is very funny to play and her Enchanted Crystal Arrow is a dopamine recharge that make u lock the screen on the target so Zed or Rengar jumps on you and oneshots your ass and you have to play the legendary "sorry was watching arrow" move.

Right now she aint very bad in meta, being at a solid 52% Win Rate and S- Tier even after the nerfs (15.23) she is NOT an hypercarry but her scaling isn't bad and she can deals a lot of damage late game if built properly and if u are good at kiting and not megabehind. Early game Ashe is a strong champion, her level 1 with Volley is very good and + Ranger's Focus is a deadly combo. She is played in high elo as well due to her ability Hawkshot to track the jungler and make their life impossible, permatracking them and avoiding surprise ganks.

SYNERGIES

Are my favorite supports to play with, but and are very good. can work. can be good but I don't trust Leona mains and Brand mains are usually IL MAGISTER (Brizz94) enjoyers and think they can do a perfect "movimento ad elica" in Silver-Gold Elo.

COUNTERS

I don't think that the adcs really counters each other due to supports. For example a good can change a good match up in hell itself with her Hostile Takeover (u can do a penta on your team). I don't like facing a good or but they are not very common. Remember Cleanse when playing against Leona.

I find APC like a lot more frustrating that "normal" ADC that counters Ashe like . I don't find the too hard even if she has Spell Shield. can be tricky due to her Blade Whirl that cancels both ur Volley, autos and Enchanted Crystal Arrow but its not an impossible match up and with the right support you can win the lane, I find Alistar and Poppy very good to counter Samira.

Ashe can counter some on-meta ADC like and if played properly can do well against most of the hypercarry like . A good can be as frustrating as Mel.

HOW TO PLAY

Watching good Ashe players is one of the most important things to do in order to become a decent ADC.

Watch on YouTube

This is an example of video posted by the channel "challenger replays" that can help you a lot to understand how to play Ashe the right way. Now I'll move to some tips that can be useful. Ranger's FocusVolleyEnchanted Crystal Arrow are all auto-attack reset and u can look for sweet fast combo: remember to always AA between your abilities! your Enchanted Crystal Arrow is a very good utility spell that can both be used to engage or disengage and you should always max Volley to help u farm and poke the enemies, its very important to look for a diagonal Volley to damage the minions too. Ranger's Focus is good to take plates or destroy towers.

REMEMBER that your laning phase is very good and even if u fall behind you can still be useful due to the huge amount of utility that your kit has. If you can snowball Ashe can be strong in all the phases of the game providing good damage and scaling decently.

Your Volley stomps having a low cooldown at 3-4 point on W and so does the Enchanted Crystal Arrow making Ashe pretty frustrating to face, you can easily abuse other ADC if they are far from their tower due to your slows and damage over time. RESPECT enemies abilities, use your Hawkshot and Farsight Alteration to avoid ganks and sneaky engages. DO NOT FEAR long fight, remember your slows, the Ranger's Focus damage and . A lot of low elo ADCs like to go on turret mode vs you, don't worry: especially ealy-mid game you lose very few turret-mode all-in trades.

Your Hawkshot is very important to track what is going on in the map: you can easily know where the enemy jungler is and what they are going to do. Remember to look for crossmap E clicking diagonally to the end of the enemy jungle (top krugs). Use it on cooldown during laning phase and remember to use it before the spawn of objectives to know if the enemy jungler is going to fight for them or not: look at where your jungler is, the enemy one should be in a mirrored position, this will help you to track theirs.

CONCLUSION

I hope you liked my Ashe guide ^^ this is my second after a Mobafire Miss Fortune one. I repeat that I don't excpect to be a macro god, a perfect ADC or to know everything: I just wanted to share my experience and help other fellow new ADCs that are looking for a new champion to main :3

Maybe there is too much sh*t but I wanted the guide to be as complete as possible not neglecting any build or situation like filled or wrong runes. I don't know if this can be a good start to main the champion but let me know your opinion, I'd love to get advice to improve in the future :)

SORRY FOR THE BAD ENGLISH, I'M ITALIAN (pasta, pizza, spaghetti)
