Twitch ADC Guide — The Rat Carry Blueprint
Overview
Twitch is a scaling stealth ADC who wins games by creating unfair fights. You are not a normal front-to-back marksman. Your goal is to survive lane, collect gold, then use Ambush Q to appear from unexpected angles and delete multiple enemies with Spray and Pray R.
Twitch is strongest when he attacks first, from fog of war, while enemies are already committed or split apart. He is weakest when he is forced to walk into vision, gets engaged on before using Q, or uses ultimate from a bad angle where only one target can be hit.
Your game plan is simple:
Survive early lane.
Farm cleanly.
Use Q for tempo, not randomly.
Look for invis flanks after level 6.
Fight only when you can hit multiple targets or kill the highest-value target.
Do not die before objectives.
Twitch is not about flashy mechanics first. He is about patience, spacing, timing, and choosing the correct fight.
Standard AD Twitch Runes
Primary: Precision
Keystone: Lethal Tempo
Triumph
Legend: Alacrity
Cut Down
Secondary: Sorcery
Axiom Arcanist
Gathering Storm
Stat shards
Attack Speed
Adaptive Force
Scaling Health or Health depending on lane
This is the default scaling ADC setup. It gives Twitch strong extended fights, better late-game damage, and good synergy with his ultimate.
Take this rune page in most games.
Strengths
Twitch has one of the best teamfight ultimates among ADCs. If enemies group in a line, Spray and Pray can win the fight alone.
His Q stealth lets him create picks, escape danger, roam, reset fights, and punish enemies who do not respect fog of war.
He scales extremely well with attack speed, crit, on-hit effects, and armor penetration.
He is very good at punishing low-vision players because he can start fights from angles other ADCs cannot access.
He can snowball hard from one good fight because Q resets allow him to keep chasing after kills.
Weaknesses
Twitch has a weak early lane compared to many ADCs. You cannot always contest wave control level 1–3.
He is very vulnerable when Q is down.
He struggles against heavy poke, long-range mages, hard engage, and champions who can instantly reveal or lock him down.
Bad ultimate angles make Twitch look useless. Good ultimate angles make Twitch look broken.
You need discipline. Twitch becomes much worse when you force plays before your items or before enemy cooldowns are used.
Standard AD Twitch Core
Start:
Doran’s Blade + Health Potion when its all in heavy lane or Doran’s Bow + 2x Health Potion if you play vs a poke lane
Core Example
Yun Tal Wildarrows
Berserker's Greaves
Infinity Edge
Runaan's Hurricane
Fiendhunter Bolts
This is the default build.
Situational Items
Bloodthirster
Buy when you want more raw AD, lifesteal and survivability while still maintaining high damage.
Guardian Angel
Buy when one death can lose the game or you are carrying and need protection against dives.
Death's Dance
Buy against heavy AD burst or assassins.
Mortal Reminder
Replace Lord Dominik's Regards when the enemy has significant healing and anti-heal is necessary.
Mercurial Scimitar / QSS
Buy against dangerous suppressions or hard CC that Cleanse cannot solve.
Item rule: Default to Yun Tal → Runaan's → Infinity Edge → LDR. Change the later items only when the enemy composition gives you a clear reason to.
Laning Phase
Your goal in lane is not to win every trade. Your goal is to leave lane with enough gold and XP to become dangerous.
Early lane priorities:
Farm safely.
Do not lose HP for random autos.
Use E only when you have enough stacks.
Let enemies push if you are weaker.
Thin waves before they crash too big.
Respect jungle timers.
Keep Q available if the wave is far from your tower.
Twitch can trade well when enemies walk into your auto range for too long. Your basic trade pattern is:
Auto → Auto → W → Auto → E
Do not chase too far. Twitch dies easily if he gets baited past the wave.
If your support has engage, wait for them to start. Stack poison during CC, then use E when the target tries to escape.
If your support is enchanter, play slower. Scale, farm, and look for level 6 fights.
If your support is poke, hit when enemies are slowed or low HP, then use E to finish the trade.
Common Mistakes
Using Q randomly in lane.
Pressing E with only one or two stacks for no reason.
Ulting tanks from the front.
Showing on waves before objectives.
Walking into river with no vision.
Fighting while down items.
Ignoring enemy assassins.
Opening before enemy CC is used.
Greeding damage instead of staying alive.
Chasing too far after one kill.
Twitch does not need to force every fight. Twitch needs one good fight.
Level 1 Bush Control
Twitch can have a surprisingly strong level 1 if you take Q and both bot lanes contest bush control before the wave arrives. The goal is not to blindly start the fight yourself, but to let your support walk up first and bait the enemy ADC/support into using their first auto, spell, or engage cooldown on them. Once the enemy has committed forward, Twitch can come out of Q stealth with the bonus attack speed, instantly start stacking Lethal Tempo, and turn the fight into an extended all-in where his passive poison and repeated autos become very hard to beat.
This works best when your support can tank the first hit or lock the enemy down, and when the enemy lane does not have a stronger level 1 all-in than you. If the enemy wastes cooldowns on your support and you are untouched, you usually have the damage advantage because Twitch wants long level 1 fights, not short poke trades.
